I've probably got more free time than most on this forum so I'll pick this one up if no-one has any objections - maybe aim for May/June? Could invite Steven Chowny to come along with a few of his basses. How would you feel about making it a South-West bash rather than specifically Bristol? I'm sure I could find a more flexible / user-friendly / cheaper venue between Bristol and Taunton within easy reach of the M5, e.g. one of the many nice village halls around these parts.

Again, easy enough.

Maybe it might be worth inviting Stuart Clayton too for a seminar or something considering he lives out of North Devon and travels into Bristol to teach? That information, of which has been sat in the back of my mind for god knows how long, may be a bit out of date but it's worth a shot nonetheless. :)

OK, I've taken 3 positive replies as a mandate to go ahead and have just left a message on Stephen's mobile (spelled his name right this time btw). If he's up for attending, I'll ask him to give a short presentation on Chowny and his experiences of designing basses, getting them manufactured first in China and now India - and having to do an unplanned re-design to avoid legal action. As I write these words the phone rings and it's Stephen returning my call. He's more than up for it and also says he'll mention it to David (Konig?) at Retrovibe.

So far so good then! Could anyone else who'd like to come post or pm me whether you'd prefer a Saturday or a Sunday (I'm guessing Sunday will be more popular) and let me know if there's any dates when you couldn't attend.

Cheers,

Mike

Once you guys have decided the date, start a new thread with the info in the title, and I'll pin it to the top, and then I'll create a Facebook event. :)

Thanks bluejay, that's brilliant - I'll start a 'Bristol & South West' thread when venue booked.

Right, that's the venue booked :D as follows:

Sunday, April 2nd at The Memorial Hall, Cheddon Fitzpaine, near Taunton, Somerset TA2 8JY. The hall is located 3 miles from M5 J25 in secluded woodland on the outskirts of the village and should be comfortably less than an hour's drive from Bristol on a Sunday. For images and more information visit www.cheddonfitzpainevillagehall.co.uk

This will be my last post on this thread as I'm now starting a new topic entitled South-West Bass Bash on the Events forum.

AND THE BEST THING IS THERE'S NOT LONG TO WAIT!!
