Well, after getting this thing down from the attic and polishing her up she is now up for sale to fund an upcoming ACG custom bass.

This bass is in stunning condition, and is fitted with an active pre-amp, volume, balance, high & low cut/boost. Its fitted with Demarzio split precision pickup and a juicy fat Kramer humbucker at the rear.

Action is excellent, tone is wonderful. I have owned this bass for the last 18years and have lots of good memories, but needs must when 'she who must be obeys' tells me I can have a new bass as long as I sell a couple.... :)

I have had the year of manufacture confirmed by Kramer as it is marked on the original pots (included with the sale with the original cream Demarzio pickups)

It comes with an old Fender case, but its not the best fit for this bass , so will pad it all out nicely. Fitted with a new set of Status Hot wire bass strings.

I want £350 for this bass

Photos:-

Would rather have local pickup or meet halfway, but I will arrange courier if required at extra cost.

Any body who wants to try it out before hand is more than welcome !!

Here is one on fleebay at the moment:-

Nearly....Its a DMZ4001 (according to the kramer website) with a retro fitted humbucker....

Queen Bassist, John Deacon had one one of these. Although I am not sure he used it live, he definately used it as a back-up and it is on the Play The Game video (1980). It's a fantastic looking instrument and I'm surprised at the very reasonable price.

Neck-wise, is it much different to a P Bass?

Good luck with the sale - if my Bassman sells before this goes, I shall make one an offer. Fingers crossed. :)

I have the 7" single in the case with the bass and the front cover shows him using the exact same model......

The neck is a similar 'D' profile to the precision I suppose, but cant give any detailed comparison as I don't own one.

The price is based upon what similar Kramer Aluminium basses have gone for on evil bay in the past.

...and here's that vid. Forgot how great this tune is too - been looking for an unusual cover for my heavy original band and this might just do the trick. The pre-solo where F nicks poodle man Bs guitar fills me with inspiration for the re-arrangement - would be good to kick it off with the da-da-bah bit..

Likewise, good luck with the sale.

I found this website ages ago. It gives some info on Mister Deacon's Basses including the Kramer.

Again no real evidence to say it was used on any recordings. However, in my opinion he must've liked it to consider it a worthy spare.

No-one's bought my Bassman yet, so I'm sorry I'm still yet to make you an offer.
Didn't Alan Lancaster (original bassist in Quo) have one of these in a lovely dark wood?
Pretty sure he did, cant find any pictures. Neil Murray also played one of the dark wooden bodied twin humbucker models when he was with Whitesnake, I had photos of him playing one in an old tour brochure.

It was this model I think:-
