1. I uploaded a few backing tracks on this site a while back: Riffeo Good for jamming with online or you can download them as mp3s. Also, I found a short clip somewhere on the 'net and stretched it out to five minutes. A Bluesy/Funky number. Enjoy!
 2. I finally got enough cash for a Precision bass. It's an MIM Standard, but I can truly say I LOVE this thing! I've had it for around six months now and I can hardly put it down.
 3. I'll play. Jay Turser violin bass complete with awesome Hofner teacup knobs to help me get that "Baetle" sound! Rogue fretless for when I want to play out of tune with mwah Squier Classic Vibe 50's Precision with pickup and wiring upgrades Fender MIM Standard Precision which appears to be my favorite all around bass right now That's enough for the time being.
 4.
I have no experience of the CV jazz but I have got a CV 50s precision and the quality is pretty good. Sure its got cheap pots just like were on both the cij fenders I have, but thats really only to be expected on a budget item. The solderings ok and the cavity is screened with paint. Its not uncommon with cheaper instruments to have large routes underneath the pickguard if it makes machining or assembly easier and cheaper. As always we get what we pay for and I think the CV series is amazing value.
+1 Mine appears to be very well crafted for the money I paid. I ended up replacing the pickup and wiring, though. Not because the originals were horrible, but as expected the sound was greatly improved by a Seymour Duncan QP and I figured I'd just go ahead and replace everything. Plus, I shielded all the cavities with copper foil. I don't get any buzz unless I stand directly in front of the source. You would think that if they could take the trouble of drilling a hole for the wire on these, they could do so with the Jazz. Just get a flashy pickguard and you'll forget all about the routing. I didn't like the cheap looking white pickguard on CV 50's P, so I had a new one made from 3-ply parchment colored material. A friend borrowed it for a gig and couldn't believe it was a "cheap" Squier.
 5.
For those having trouble with the Schallers... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=70420
Nice! Very informative. I've been using Schallers on my guitars for many years. It didn't take long to figure out the drawbacks, and the solutions. I use them on my basses as well. I also use the Marvel straplocks on guitars with the front strap pin down by the neck joint. The Schallers poke me in the gut! The Marvels are a bit more comfortable. Straps are relatively inexpensive, at least the ones I use, so I have a strap set up to work with those particular guitars. I love to read the responses when strap locks are the topic. Especially when someone asks "Which strap locks are the BEST?"
 6.
Why does the title ('Warmest Greetings') make me feel like I'm about to be offered 5 MILLION US DOLLARS by one of the Lads from Lagos ?? Joking aside, welcome to the dark side and BC.
Haha! No Nigerian cash windfalls or Spanish lottery winners here. However, there are plenty of Nike shoes, Rolex watches, Vicodin and Cialis, all available without a prescription because I know how to party! Thanks for the welcomes, everyone.
 7. From the cultural melting pot that is Wisconsin, U.S.A.! Home of delicious cheese, micro-brew beer and far too many Blues bands. I'm a recent guitar to bass convert. I've been playing guitar for close to 30 years, and a little over a year ago I started focusing more on playing bass. I must say, I'm enjoying the challenge and I'm hoping to learn more about music and theory by "starting over" with a new instrument and an open mind. Which is what brings me here, trying to soak up as much knowledge from those more experienced than myself. Being prone to fits of G.A.S. on occasion, most likely from the guitar playing obsession, I've acquired a few different electric basses along the way trying to find the right one for my style and expectations. At this point, I've settled on a Fender MIM Precision strung with flatwounds which is all that and more. Does it end here? Possibly not, but this ought to do for a while. And now, the required picture:
