1. I've had a similar issue with using guitar pedals with bass. The bottom end is gone. Can an EQ fix that?
2.
Check out the Dave Marks channel, love those walking bass lessons. http://uk.youtube.com/user/davemarks?ob=1 SR
Yeah....that guy is pretty awesome. I'm from the US so I can't really tell, please excuse my ignorance, but is he from Scotland or Ireland? Sorry, I don't hear Scottish or Irish accents a lot.
3.
Then why are you asking if you can take it off? :S
First, awesome avatar. Second, I wasn't sure if it would somehow mess up the pick-ups by getting dust in them or something. Just being safe. Oh, and I don't care about the paint job. The bass + amp was $300 so it's not really top notch stuff anyway....
4. I've taken it off before, no exposed wires it's solid black underneath. Thanks!
5. I want to take the pick guard off of my Squire jazz. Would that be ok or would it hurt the instrument?
6. A sort-of old post, but I'll add. Learn all the major notes and know that to the left or to the right is a flat or sharp (Except for B and C and E and F). If you know where an A is you know that A sharp is a half step (1 fret) up. Makes things a little easier.
7. I had a friend from college who played cello. I found it difficult to play.

Memory man.

Ok, I have both a Russian Big Muff and I love it, but the memory man sounds so "tinny" it really sucks the low end out, I love what it does so I don't want to get rid of it...I've played it with both the big muff and without. Is there anyway to get some low end back into the mix? EQ?
9. I'm surprised I haven't seen.... Radiohead- "The National Anthem" And also.... My Bloody Valentine- "You made me realise" Stereolab- "Metronomic Underground" Nirvana-"Blew" (Well...the muddy banks of wishkah version anyway....)
10.
Good call!
I 3rd that. The basslines for Talking Heads are always tight.
11.
I've never listened to My Bloody Valentine so I don't know about their guitarist's technique specifically but I do know that Les Claypool is a prominent bassist who does use a tremolo on his bass. Maybe check him out?
Yeah. I've heard Primus, but this dude does something specific that Les does not. Thanks though!
12. I'm not sure how many people here listen to My Bloody Valentine, but for those who do, has anyone tried Kevin Shields' guitar techniques on bass? How'd it work out? I'd like to eventually get a trem on my bass for this purpose, but I don't know if it'd be worth it...
13. Thanks. I wasn't going to do it to my current bass, but eventually buy one for this purpose. Thanks for the link! Is the tuning with these things ok? I've seen some pretty nasty stuff written on Harmony Central about them, but it was mainly for 6 string guitar and not bass... I want to make sure that this trem system won't be more trouble than it's worth...
14. Thanks. I'll have to look into one of those Kahler trems. Is it true that they go out of tune easily?
