1. Hi everyone, I'm now able to offer more slots teaching at home in Walton-on-Thames, KT12. I've worked with a range of acts over the years, but perhaps more importantly I'm concerned with providing good quality tuition; I'm fully qualified with an MMus (Master of Music) and a Diploma for Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector. I'd guesstimate I've taught about 100 students a year, and a significant portion of them have gone on to do well in the industry. I'm also regularly involved in training music teachers how to teach for a wide variety of ages, skills and experience. I've been delivering (and have written for) the Rockschool syllabus for over ten years. Many of my private and college students have benefited from the structure that this provides. If grades aren't for you, I'm also happy to work with you on individual elements of your playing and music theory. I can also help you develop your wider industry knowledge. If distance is a factor, I do offer Skype/FaceTime lessons; whichever path you want to take, all you'll need is a bass - I'll provide everything else! All my contact details are on my website; I'm happy to just have a chat and see if I can help you progress. There's also a tonne of free charts on there to practice your reading (both lead sheet and notation style) so grab them and start playing along to songs that you recognise - it's not as scary as you might think! (I *really* should update that blog at some point...) I'd love to hear from you; feel free to get in touch and have a natter! My website address is https://bassguitartuition.com/ Terry P.S. Card payments now available!
2. Hi, I've recently moved house and realised just how much stuff I've got. As a result I'm having a bit of a clean out. I've got the above pedal for sale but the website isn't playing ball with me uploading pictures; if you send me a PM I can email them across to you. It's a bit crackly when in use but this may be sorted out by giving the contacts a bit of a clean, hence the price! I'm looking for £10 (no offers please!) but I'm not in one place for too long for the forseeable future so it'll need to be collected. I'm available either in Bow (East London), Bristol or Walton-on-Thames. PMs welcome!
3. Hi, I've recently moved house and realised just how much stuff I've got. As a result I'm having a bit of a clean out. I've got the above pedal for sale but the website isn't playing ball with me uploading pictures; if you send me a PM I can email them across to you. I'm looking for £35 (no offers please!) but I'm not in one place for too long for the forseeable future so it'll need to be collected. I'm available either in Bow (East London), Bristol or Walton-on-Thames. PMs welcome!
4. Due to the demise of my MobileMe hosting, I've just shifted a load of charts over to a new site; currently this is at http://terryblyth.wordpress.com but I may get a re-direct by the end of next month. It's just a stop-gap for now until I can get my head around WordPress, but at least it's functional. I make no promises as to the accuracy, lay-out or anything else(!), but hopefully it'll get anybody out of a hole if a last-minute gig's sprung on them. I'm away for 10 days from tomorrow, but as soon as I can find my batch .sib > .pdf plug-in I'll whack the rest up.
5.
thanks simon i'll check it out when i get home think it may be a late night cheers steve
Hope this helps.
6. Hi, I've just edited the original post to clarify the posting situation, as it obviously looked a bit ambiguous before
7. Hi everyone, I'm selling the above item but I won't be posting as it's hassle, things get lost, and last time I shifted my Deep Impact it ended up costing me a lot of money! I'm in either Bristol, Croydon or Eastbourne depending on what day of the week, and I'm happy to meet up if there's anywhere en route that would be better. It comes with a PSU and I think I've got some bits of paper that came with it (I bought it new) but I'm not at home at the moment so I can't dig them out. I believe there may be PDFs knocking around the web if I haven't got them. PMs are probably better than forum postings in case I miss them
8. Hi all! I've put it on eBay here - it's got a starting price of £0.01 with no reserve. Happy bidding! Terry
9. As promised, now on eBay - happy bidding!
10. Exactly as the title says! I'm based in Surbiton, SW London / Surrey borders. I'm looking for £350. Full working order, and Boss power supply included too. The box has the manual (such as it is!) included. Just to be clear, I'm not looking for trades, part exchanges or offers. I'll be happy to post it at cost once a cheque/bank transfer clears, but good ol' cash is more than welcome! I'll leave it hanging here for a week before it goes on eBay, but if anybody is serious about buying then feel free to have a try-out round mine before committing. Thank-you!
11. Bump for a further price reduction - now £850. It won't be going any lower than this though! Also, as a correction, this is a 35" scale neck, not 34" as I previously posted. It feels just as easy as my 34" Warwick though (which led me to believe it was the same length), which I guess speaks volumes about the playability of it!
12. Hi Greg! I'll have to borrow a friend's scales, so if you can hold off for a day or two I'll get it weighed as soon as I can. It's remarkably light, which did concern me, but it can still kick out plenty of bottom end! It's a gigged bass, so there are some knocks on it, but everything is superficial, and all are quite hard to photograph on my iPhone's camera. I'm in Bristol a fair bit, so I can pop it over for you to have a look at sometime if you fancy?
13. Thanks for the kind words about the band - funnily enough, from this week I'm stopping running it (although I'll still be playing bass) A quick word about the transcription - it's very "note-y", and in reality it doesn't need to be that detailed. I was only originally intending to do a lead-sheet (it was a first dance request for a gay wedding) but the playing on it was so tasty I thought I'd try to get all the little nuances in. If anybody is looking at this thinking "I'll never be able to read this" then don't panic - 90% of written music isn't that involved - particularly that little 32nd note run on the first page! I just started something and thought I may as well carry on the rest of the piece like that. If anybody has the first ever issue of Bassist magazine, I remember there being a transcription in that which drew a fair amount of criticism at the time for being an ABBA piece. It was the first in a series of A-Z bass lines. If anybody still has that, it's likely that would have had TAB underneath it.
