1.
The Pixies are bloody awful in their own right, regardless of my superiority
This is the wrongest thing i have ever seen written on the forum. Also I am sure Kim is perfectly capable of being a 'real' bass player, if the songs required it. She has stated on several occasions that the (Pixies) music never wanted or needed anything other than the simple bass lines she played. Indeed im quite sure Frank Black as the bands founder and song writer would not have allowed it in his songs. Kim is a favourite because her bass lines just have that certain something that distinguishes run of the mill from special.
2.
I always liked Patrica Morrison (Gun Club and Sisters of Mercy) solid bassist
Ah yeah forgot about Pat Bag. Cant believe i forgot about Gaye Advert either (not after seeing those pictures anyway ) Must be getting old or summin.?

Pere Ubu in November

'non alignment pact' is an all time favourite of mine. Love the bass at the beginning. on record: https://www.youtube....mpMY&feature=kp live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvL98QvO6k4
5. Any of you old farts out there remember Pere Ubu ? If so, is anyone going to see them in November? So far just 6 confirmed dates, Manchester, leeds, Edinburgh, Bristol, Glasgow.
6. YES it is a well worn scam. you pay at your end and get sent a box of fresh air if you are lucky. If he actually said yes to cash on collection. I imagine, after a 500 mile journey, you would be mugged at knife point or some similar exquisite occurance.
7. What about a gramma pad (I made my own) and/or headphones.
8. I thought the general concesus was 'Flea basses' were supposed to be junk? (purple or otherwise) Have they suddenly become cool or is this another type of Flea bass alltogether ? (ie: a Modulus in whuich case its a Modulus and not a 'flea bass' which is doing it a disservice, and if you can get it at a good price then do so and good luck to you sir)
9. As Bartleby says the best one has gone missing in action, it had practically all of the first 5 albums. here is whats left via the internet time machine: http://web.archive.o...trangindex.html heres are a few more than whats on ultimate in case the above ever link dissapears http://www.bigbassta..._bass_tabs.html .
10.
A lot of people who learn theory neglect the most important part - ear training. For example its all very well knowing that G -> C is a perfect cadence in C but if you cant "hear" what it sounds like in your mind then the knowledge is of little use.
I have generally found that as the years go by, Things like knowing intervals and being aware of how something sounds before you play it, starts to become more and more instictive. I think as long as you practice regularly you cant help but learn theory by osmosis. (even if you dont know the names for it)
11. I dont think theory helps much with actual creative process more than being able to say to yourself something like. 'Well thats a Major pentatonic in G, that I have been noodling around.Maybe ill end by going up an octave'. or 'were basicly using the notes to F minor here, so an E wont really work to end on, why dont i try an Eb'. But often as not i still just 'try them all and see which sounds the best'
12. used to happen to me too when i used IE10. Weird and annoying.
