A voice in my head keeps telling me "sell your P bass, fool, and get one of those wee Scott Whitley basses". Hmmm!

Marc S! Come to the Bristol Guitar Show on the 30th and I'll have one there you can try. Only across the bridge for you isn't it?

First outing for the Squier VMPV today. Sound sat perfectly in the mix and one of the easiest basses to play of all my ... uhum, 27.

Father in law didn't take any sat nav/maps, so wanted to follow me. He still missed junctions. So I'd sit with him and write detailed directions, he'd still get lost. All my fault of course because I'd not drive at 40-50kph under speed limits so he could stick to the rear bumper of the hire car.

I had LAMF on vinyl back in '78. Jumpers for goalposts etc... Still lust after a Les Paul Junior.

Was it Johnny Thunder that, when the police found his body, somebody had already broken into his apartment and stole all his shoes?

Willy DeVille told folks Johnny died holding his guitar but later admitted he'd made the story up.

New venue and new kebabatory and a record rebooking. Good gig in Kearsley, excellent kebab in Farnworth which is the town juxtaposed and booked back for next Friday, The "mild" chile sauce made it for me. Oh and the landlord lives with two women and has nine children between them.

I used to play Detroit Rock City in a band when I was at school in the 70s.

Great basslines, especially in the 70s. I used to do Cold Gin in an early band and I still play Torpedo Girl in soundchecks today.

Stereo help needed! Back of stereo says for impedance use 6-16Ω and the speakers are 6Ω each (so 3Ω for the pair) - can I use both speakers with the stereo or just the one? Thanks in advance!

2 speaker outputs? That'll be 6Ω per output socket.

If it's a stereo amp, there should be two separate power amp channels, so 6 ohms on each should be fine if it says 6 ohms minimum.

Gig today. PA and backline supplied. Phone call, there is now no PA, bring yours. Set it up play then take it down? We say no as he is obviously after using ours for all the bands, all day. He has now somehow got a 2K rig but no mics... This is going to be fun!

I've had a hankering for a Hammond spinet as of late, but I'm feeling slightly apprehensive about the money and effort I'll need to put in to buy the quite expensive organ, then transport, make space for and install the 400 lbs behemoth in my apartment, then find and buy a slightly lighter but similarly expensive Leslie, and finally hire some sort of warlock to meld the two together via black magic, as I've come to understand that's what's required.

Have you got a Rick Wakeman cape in the back of your wardrobe by chance? I'd say you'd need one to go with the lush sounds that you are bound to emit.

Actually Spondon, you'd be surprised how close that is to the truth! I think it's more of a cloak. A magnificent red piece I bought from a small shop that stocked a lot of old theatrical wear. Well, that about settles it, then. I think I'm gonna have to go for an organ despite the toil involved!
