Is it just me or does this seem a very good deal

the Squier P5 plays great and is promising acoustically, but plugged in the B string output is weak- because the pickups aren't wide enough to cope with the wide spread of the strings.

an owner's testimony here-

on Talkbass everyone seems to be raving about the new Squier active Jazz 5 though.

That doesn't seem bad at all. £60 off the rrp, free delivery, stand and strings (although at £8 a set they'll not be fantastic), and Squier stuff's pretty decent, I have a Squier tele and strat and they're both excellent, the neck on my strat's better than some Fenders I've tried. I'd probably replace the pickups on it though, the pickups on my strat were quite weak, but the tele isn't bad at all. You get a choice of colours too, sunburst looks good with the tortoise shell scratchplate.

The Squier Special 5 I bought for £100 or so was a pretty good buy (neck was a bit chunky for me and so I sold it when I got the Tsai). I think it's the same model (metallic black, not sunburst):

Nothing outstandingly good or bad, just grey porridge.
