This was interesting...

I have a potential 127dB SPL at 6 feet away from my speakers!

Dropping output power from 480 Watts to 200 Watts only reduces SPL to 123dB

Think I might need to turn down a notch or two!

there's gonna be some grief when it comes in... perhaps then we could be heard at the bar... but then again, there is existing legislation which should be applied now...

The general rule of thumb is that if you find yourselves shouting to be heard in conversation at a distance of one meter then the ambient level is too loud and you should be wearing ear protection

This legislation is cause for concern. It was in the news this week with the last night of the proms being too loud with all those people singing Land Of Hope And Glory. It could see the return of the dreaded volume cut outs!

For the younger members these were very popular at lots of venues and had an orange light that came on if the volume was too loud and the power cut out if the light stayed on for too long. At some venues a rimshot on the drums was enough to cut the power and I cut the power at one venue tuning up with harmonics.

apparently The Who were tripping the cut-out the other night when they played Swansea.
