Good Luthier's in Buckinghamshire

Ok, since many guitar shops (in High Wycombe) have dissapeared...except for Paradiddles which is an ok place for strings & the owner Phil always is nice to deal with.
I was wondering, is there any good luthiers/bass techs in the buckinghamshire area?
I need a complete set up for my bass, professionally and (thanks to Warwick.de) would be good if they are keen with warwicks & had the (warwick) equip to setup with, incase your asking I had no care kit since I bought it second hand and apparently you need the required truss rod tool to adjust the truss rod esp to take the lighter gauge Im placing on.

I'm not willing to take the chance of me doing it :)

Thanx in advance peeps

Pedro
+100 for Andy Viccars based in West Bletchley (Milton Keynes) - Top bloke!
I think I may meet this guy ;) sounds a geniune bloke.

lol you do realise I have to rely on a bus until I pass my drivers test ;) so Milton Keynes might take time for me to get there...I feel disappointed there aint a luthier local to me...or even better a yellow pages ad where the guy comes to you! how great would that be..

I think I may stick to the guy at Reading (Guitar Works) He did setups for my other instruments and noticed a few things I missed :) he seems reliable plus Guitar Works has given their word for a refund if damage whilst in maintenence

Cheers for the suggested
I went to collage in Wycombe a long long time a go, many lunch breaks were spent in Percy Priors, has it closed down.?
lol when I had work experiance me and my friends would always meet at Percy Priors (although the new owners changed it to "Rainbow Bridge") twas a gd place, until staff and management changed.

Apparently they went out of business because they couldn't afford to keep stock, so *over night* they up't and left :). No warnings at all, I recall a technician in there by the name of Mike..he didn't seem too keen, esp when I saw how he relic's ;) uses a pair of scissors  tut tut.

There's a new one apparently...called BBZguitars (lincoln road) I haven't been and I don't think I want to as they stock the copies (vintage, squier, encore) and don't have a luthier.

Andy Viccars has done some great stuff for me.

Check out this 1971 EB3 he restored for me - theres pics of the restoration here (and on the following pages)

His website is here http://www.andyviccarscustom.co.uk/

If its just a set up you need, i'd buy Dan Erlwines 'guitar repair guide', the truss-rod adjusting tool, and do it yourself.

He gives great instruction, and if you follow them to the letter, its hard to break anything.

Hey mate, if you do decide to go the whole hog, and get a full repair job done too, then keep me posted....I'd love to see that beauty in it's full glory like I planned at some point. At least I know it's gone to a good home ;)

Cheers,
Pete.

Hey Pete,

lol I will keep you posted on its re-birth. Might even change the current faded hardware to some new ones...;)

Gonna give it some great TLC which it deserves :) I'll post pictures in a month of its improvements *whispers* I bought an adjustable brass nut, totally identical to the current one just incase the current has faults

Cheers Pete
Yeah, that's exactly what I was going to do.....new pots, bridge, tuners, etc.

Then the Marcus Miller Jazz caught my eye ;).....the rest is history!
Haha, It just seems like the best option..:D though to be honest I think the electrics are fine...at first it did have some buzzing but that was dust caught around the volume pot.. WD40 cleared that immensely.

lol it happens, damn temptation!..I'm gassing for another bass..;) though a Car too..:)

UPDATE: Ok, just got off the phone with Guitar Works Technician: Julian...he's done many of my guitars and I've been highly satisfied...lol lets hope I feel the same after he does my bass(es) I was satisfied to hear he has a Warwick care kit (truss rod tool, allen keys)...or I would have been annoyed to change the truss rod if it had ruined ;)

Cheers Bass Fanatics!..though keep me posted if there is one in Wycombe Area.
