Ashdown 5-15 Electronics?

Hello all

I have a an older style 65w Ashdown 5-15 practice amp bought cheap and (I suspect) as ex demo. Take the treble knob past seven(dots) and the distant sound of of the pacific breaking gently on the shore appears.

Can anyone suggest the most likely cause of this and can it be rectified (preferably by me). My guess would be incorrect component replacement at some point in its life but have no way of knowing (I've never opened it up) or it could be that older versions suffer this. Apart from this I don't mind the overall sound of the amp it's not hifi but is more than adequate for practice and projects reasonably well in a small room.

Any suggestions - other than dump it and get something else - gratefully received.

TIA + TTFN

Ian
