I voted against the whole thing in the end because I think it encourages cliques and ultimately won't really help the mods either.
But I was torn because '+1' is so irritating. Can we get rid of the system but also ban '+1'ing? Where did it even come from?

FWIW I seem to remember way back when, before the upgrade a lot of people were saying "I wish there was a like, like on facebook"

I went for 'likes' only. I nearly went with deactivate, but with facebook 'like' type stuff seems to be in fashion these days. I think that the existence of negative points could get very messy and personal so I wouldn't mind seeing it go.

Both the top 2 are in favour of the system. Therefore together they outweigh the neggs

Will the votes be counted like that? I thought that each option stood by itself and that the one with the most votes would be adopted.

But I do get your point that for number of voters, there are more who favour one flavour of the system than dislike the system completely.

Big difference between 'Keep system with likes only' and 'Keep system but likes and dislikes'.

PS: I'd like to suggest that a 'negg' is an egg which nobody wants.

A week should be a minimum really, but I guess a high proportion of the user base isn't that fussed (726 views at time of posting).

Not so. They are both in favour of the "like" option. The only division between those voting A & B is that the B voters are in favour of "dislike" too.

Well the way I'm reading it at the moment it stands at:
23
9
28

That's 32 people that want to be able to like
9 People that want to be able to dislike
28 People that don't want to be able to do either

I don't know how the mods are going to do this but that is how I would :)

Yes, but I'd be surprised if you had more than a number in the high hundreds of actually active members (excluding the folks who restrict themselves to the marketplace).

EDIT: Can't the new board version set site announcements like the earlier one? Failing that, a mass admin e-mail should get people's attention (I wouldn't be surprised many are oblivious to the fact this discussion is going on),

No you're quite right - rarely do I see a post by someone i've not seen before. If we had even 10% of active users posting actively the forum would be unbearable.

Fair enough, but it could then be argued that the poll offers two options in favour versus only one against, which is not, after all, fair enough :) :)
