I use the Carl Verheyen method of setting up my spring claw which is not apparently possible with the Tremol-no, but what the hey, it seems like a superb solution to my problem. Thanks again Wil!

Haha, I just got an email from Kevan at Tremel-no explaining why the Carl Verheyen method is bollocks, and it makes sense.

I'll be ordering a Tremel-no asap.

"Hey Nigel!

Thanks for the email and the compliments. I appreciate them.

I wish Carl would stick to being an awesome player and stop trying to defeat physics. :-) The angled claw setup is pure myth.

I'll try to describe it for ya:
- Number your springs, from Low E to High E, 1 thru 5.
- Each spring has a tension level. We'll say from 1 to 10.
- Most trems run a 3 spring setup, so we'll just be using 1, 3 and 5.

Claw is parallel to trem block:
- Spring #1 is pulling at 5.
- Spring #3 is pulling at 5.
- Spring #5 is pulling at 5.

Claw is tightened on the Low E side and loosened on the High E side:
- Spring #1 is pulling at 7.0
- Spring #3 is pulling at 5.0
- Spring #5 is pulling at 3.0
(the same would apply to a tight High E side and a loose Low E side setup)

Note that no matter the setup, the springs are pulling at "15". In order to get your tuning back to normal, you'll need to get to "15" somehow. Could be 7.25, 5.0, and 2.75....but it has to come back to 15. This is because your tremolo block is solid, and not Nerf. The springs are pulling the same solid mass, so the amount of tension of one spring in particular is irrelevant.

There's more stuff regarding the dual fulcrum points and things like that, but hopefully the info above answers any questions you had.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks again, and have a GREAT day/night!

 • 4 weeks later...

Got mine today, and it took me 20 minutes to install it on my USA Deluxe Strat by following the installation video on YT. It works an absolute treat! And this is a life saver for me, it's like a blessing from above. I can use standard tuning and drop D with Sheema and not change guitars. It's a truly elegant solution to a very significant problem.

Well done Kevan Geier!
