MB1. :)

Simple Answer,Whatever your happy with, slap is a style ,not a set of strings. There are more deciding factors involved action, set up,some people like lighter gauge strings some heavier, whatever works for you.no string on the market will ever improve your slap style if your set up and action is miles off the neck.

Hmm... I find it easier to slap on a bass with a medium-high action. I find it almost impossible on a bass with a low action (it just sounds sloppy).

But then it's exactly as MB said, whatever works for you.

The things to think about are really:

1. How bright do you want your strings
2. How thick/heavy do you want your strings

I prefer the thicker/heavier and less bright strings for slap 'cos that's the sound and feel I'm after. What kind of sound/feel are you after?
I'd recommend D'addario 45-100 pro-steels. They have a enough snap and thud to them without being stiff to work around quickly on the fret board IMO.
And a second from me, I use 40-95 and I've had them on for a good 2 months and they still have slap appeal and feel nice as well.

Thanks guys, much food for thought. MB1, good points, and I guess the bottom line is setup and technique, it's just interesting to see what people are playing. Any other opinions guys....? I'm looking for that really light Clarke sound really I guess.
