screeny81
Hey guys, last year I bought a Trace Elliot 4x10 cab off a mate for £70 when the speakers in my Ashdown 2x10 combo died. I was planning to use two of the speakers from the cab to get the combo up and running again, but when I checked I found them to be unsuitable. After looking up some info on the Trace speakers it's left me a little curious as to what I have... When I bought it, my mate said it was a 'proper' Trace Elliot, from the 90's he reckoned, but couldn't tell me any more... Ive found that it's got four Celestion C10T-80 32ohm speakers, and when I looked them up some people referred to them as 'vintage' units and quite rare nowadays. Is this right? From the pics below, you can see the model number and serial info is pretty much worn off now as they were obviously hand written. So basically, I want to know if anyone could tell me a bit more about the cab I have, ie age range, current value etc.. Thanks for looking, hope you can help! Mr. Foxen
Value is unlikely to be high, because massively unfashionable, but I think that is the nice end of Trace cabs.
VTypeV4
It's an early '90s 1048.. I think this design came in about '91 and continued in green furry carpet from '97 and the last few were in black leather until production ceased around 2001ish.. The 32ohm Celestions were standard issue in this cab although I have seen some with 8 ohm also. The one I had a few years back had the 32 ohm variants although I don't thinks there's much difference between 'C10T' units and Celestions' (at the time) BG10 80. Don't think they're worth much these days but still a solid and good sounding if not slightly vintage by todays standards.. Mine had the HF component and was designated 1048H as I prefer an extended HF response. Hope that helps.
jjay69
That looks like a total ringer for one i had years ago, Im getting back spasms at the mere sight of it. I doubt it's worth a lot
screeny81
Cheers guys, it is quite the back-breaker! Ideally I'd like to keep hold of it, it sounds awesome but unfortunately I've had a few back problems of late so I should look into getting something a little lighter! Thanks again for the input!
