Bassist available for originals band

Hi,

I'm a portuguese that recently moved to London (not that, that is really important)... I've been playing guitar for 16/17 years, and recently switched to bass.

I'm having a go at playing finger style bass, with an emphasis on straight forward lines that move me away from the guitar point of view and hopefully help driving the band.

Looking forward to the possibility of finding a band to play with, in London (preferably near Fulham, although other locations in London might not be restrictive).

I don't have a specific music style, I like anything from old 30s delta blues, some jazz (ex: full house, ah hum, kind of blue, blue train, etc.), late 40s to 60s chicago blues, 60s and 70s rock, pop and soul, also like some 80s rock (smiths, sonic youth, etc.), 90s rock (ex: seatle groups), I'm into bands bands like radiohead, mogwai... and pretty much anything, which I might enjoy. It's always hard to mention everything though.

I have my own gear.

And finally... I like sitting in with a band and trying to make something that everyone gets a good feel from. So I rather do originals than covers (althought playing the ocasional cover music that everyone agrees upon is cool). Overall I like playing with a group of people who work their way into something that sounds good.

Pm me if you feel I might fit into anything you're doing at the moment. Also keep in mind, I'm not a pro player, I just want to play.

cheers

Hi there

I have a couple of projects that may be of interest. The first is a new covers band called Black Star. Our first gig is a charity gig in Fareham on 29th nov. Although we have a bass player, he is somewhat put off by ambition.

The event organiser has two corporate gigs for us depending on how well we do. I am very big on performance having nmet with Tom Jackson (http://tomjacksonproductions.com/) whilst playing at the Indie Entertainment Summit last year and although I was big on performance before, he showed me two tricks during rehearsal that I used during the performance and EVERYONE was talking about those two songs. We were voted The Success of the event. His philosophy (bourne out by evidence is that 65% of the experience is what the audience see, 20% is what they feel and 15% is what they hear.

Our bass player doesn't want to partake saying it's not him to be moving on stage

Second project is my originals band Free From Gravity. www.freefromgravitymusic.com. The band I currently have are all pros. (One of them is Andy Mitchell from The Yardbirds). Problem is the cost of doing a gig is too much to play build up gigs. I have a pro marketing guy doing social media/ website and branding, a pro PR girl for doing PR and radio plugging. I also have a promoter who will promote us through her network of venues (7 of them in London) and I am talking to one of the top UK promoters about a tour next year with support slots for a very well known heritage band.

I am therefore looking to build Free From Gravity from scratch and to this end have the drummer/Lead Guitarist - now just need second lead/Rhythm and bass player - the rhythm I can do myself but prefer to just be front man.

If you or anyone else on this forum would like to have a bash at it, then get in touch and let me know

You can check out our music at

Hello there!

I dont know if you found anything yet or if you are still interested, but we are two Portuguese looking for a bassist in north east London and we share your tastes ( i listen to radiohead ,mogwai and lots of 90´s grunge and alternative rock). We are trying to make originals, and our main influences are Muse, Led Zepp and some Nirvana. Also listen to some heavier stuff like Deftones. We are not pros and just want to try out some stuff, make some demos and jam. If you are still interested don't hesitate to contact us!
