Genuine 70's Bassless Head
£300

Recommended Posts

Thought I'd stick my neck out with this.

I bought it new in the late 70's

It's seen some action and could do with some t.l.c.

I had it converted to five string some years ago but it would be easy enough to return it to four with some filler and a new nut.

It could be a good project instrument for someone with the necessary skills, or maybe just a piece of wal art.

Has mdp joined our merry band under a pseudonym?
Don't think so. If it was him he would have been extolling the virtues of getting rid of all the superfluous bits and just leaving the vitally important component for easier playing

More pics, please. Looks like there's a crack near the nut.

The crack is superficial and only adds character & mojo

Would this fit directly onto a Status headless to make it complete and usable, or would that involve heavy woodwork?

I guess you could retro-fit this to a Status with some gaffa tape and chewing gum

What does this weigh? And is it prone to neck-dive?

I would say it's about average for a late 70's model, Ive not noticed any neck dive personally

This might be worth more than you think as it could be from the 60's. That little hole is a dead give away.

I agree Tom, it does have that vintage appearance, but for full disclosure I must point out that the hole was and accident. I was on a pub gig where there was a darts match on. It was the ladies team final and I was standing next to the dartboard!

whats the width at the 'missing' nut?
On my bathroom scales it measures about 40mm, or 1 5/8" in old money

would have been all over this if it was still a four string. :gas:
You could convert it back with some filler and an extra string tree to hide it. Which hole you fill depends whether you like 4 in line or 3+1.
