E Drum Kit for energetic 12 year old

My eldest son has now decided that guitar is not enough for him and wants to give the drums a go. Space is limited so an electric kit is probably better. The only thing I know about drums is how to sit on the beat ;) so any advice on negotiating this relative minefield would be gratefully received.

I've seen this one

My son is 10 and just completed Grade 4 on drums after 18 months playing.... he's a natural!

The point of my post though, is that we started him off on an Alesis DM6 electronic kit (which will be for sale soon), but he now uses "flats" as a compromise between a full acoustic kit and the need to preserve some space. I must say it sounds very good and is surprisingly loud for what it is.

Cheers

Gareth
