Got dragged into a Jazz/Fusion band a little while back and was really out of my comfort zone having relied on covering other peoples basslines for years. Had some lessons with Geoff Chalmers and he really pushed me into learning Arpeggios. Now part of my daily workout and it's great having a Chord Chart from the Real Book shoved in front of you and being able to do something with it. Excellent stuff. Someone shouts out a chord and you know the chord tones that fit. The demonstration with Californication, to me, really highlights the importance of knowing your arpeggios as it sounded pretty good.
