I mean, you've either got a country/mid-West number with some reference to the Escher picture, or you've got the challenge of taking the genre from the Escher pic (Techno? Mathcore?) and somehow referencing Burt Reynolds (and good luck with that!). [/quote] For 'live' vocals, and good for recording too, we use an AKG C5 with success. Ours cost 100€ used (one careful owner...). Our other condenser mics are Superlux, but they came in a kit for drums (Superlux DRK-F5H3, $300 new...), so would be harder to find individually. Very nice large diaphragm mics, though (HO-8...).
