Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'

10 minutes is a long time in Deko land. I wonder if I closed my computer up at that time or something.

EDIT: One thing I'm curious about is whether Dekos are posted during daytime on the weekends. I'm usually well away from my computer there, but on days I haven't been, I don't remember seeing much.

AT

I've seen Dekos posted on Sunday mornings and also on Saturday nights as well as through the night.

Strangest time I've saw them get posted was last Hogmanay. I don't know what was worse, Somebody still working then or
me browsing for bass guitars. It was around 10.30pm.

The Warwick mini thumb bass is showing up as of now. How long has Tauzero had his? It might be the first deko than anyone on the forum bought. The first time I saw the photo my eyes interpreted it as a full sized Warwick bass leant up against an absolutely mahooosive amp.

Thanks @KB.

I got mine (or Mrs Zero got it for me) a long time ago, before Mrs Zero was Mrs Zero and before Thomann started doing dekos. I think it was from Stringbusters, somewhere around 2007 or early 2008.

There was a more specialist telecaster too, But gone now.

The first tele to appear and disappear in this batch was one of these: http://www.thomann.d...m_trans_red.htm I didn't see the price.

Dang! That's the tele I'm after!
Which one? The TE-30 or the TE-90?

EDIT: T-Bird and LH Jazz Bass still there.

So how do you guys keep track, have you got a widget or something on your browser?
Sorry, just noticed this. I have a computer program that runs checking stock every ten seconds. It loads the dekos page in my browser and announces the dekos through the speech synthesiser if it notices anything new. I was listening to Martin Gore's new solo album and browsing the web when I was rudely ( :)) interrupted on both counts this evening.

EDIT: The round back guitar has just gone. (Announced by the speech synth). The T-Bird and LH Jazz are still there.

So I bought the T-bird, naturally.
I was tempted to get one as well.
But the look the wife gave me when I told her I'd bought a bass, just to pilfer the neck from it*, made me realise it wouldn't have been a good idea.

* knowing my luck it'll be the neck that's made this a Deko bass...

Bloody he'll, I'm missing these and it's depressing. Although tbh I didn't know about HB products before and they have an OK rep and are cheap anyway. I might just get a non deko as knowing my like I'll be the guy who gets a mule and doesn't know how to correct it.

Nice one guys.

In a worrying development twice this week I've had a Deko in my Thomann basket and twice I've not bought it. Once for a PJ and then for that T-bird last night. Maybe this means I'm finally developing a healthier relationship with GAS? :o

Your hesitation is for my benefit: I thank you!

I placed my order at about 06:30 GMT (contrary to the time my post states); I'm in Norway so am an hour ahead of the rest of you I guess...

I've had order received and order confirmed emails, so I suppose that means I snagged it. I will report back next month when I find out what it's like.

A HB PB-50 might have also snuck into the order I made... Over Easter I took a punt on the mini P-bass HB do, and love it to bits! Slightly unbalanced due to the size of the body and as such a bit of a pain for fingerstyle, but extremely playable with a pick (which in my opinion accentuates the classic P tone anyway) and pretty decent sounding. I used it in a 3 hour jam (through an Ashdown stack) and it held its own alongside a Les Paul Standard (through a Marshall stack) and a Hamer studio job (through a lush Engle combo); I was blown away. I heartily recommend them (well, the mini at least!), and can't wait to try the 2 new ones... I fear the TB might be a bit big for me (I'm not a particularly big guy), but for 40 sheets I had to try!!

My 2 deko's arrived today!
I haven't played around with them alot yet but these are my findings so far:
PB-20: No faults in finish, electronics work fine. I suspect the reason this one may be a deko is that the shaft of the volume pot has been cut slightly too short causing the knob to slightly scratch against the pickguard. No big deal tho, i have a spare pot laying around somewhere which i will probably pop in there.
The other thing i noticed is terrible buzzing which is only present on the 8th fret of the A string. Anybody has any ideas what this might be and how to fix it?
I only did a fast inspection so far,so it might just be a raised fret but i'm asking anyways.
JB-20: Only thing i could find that was wrong with this one is that the pickguard has been cut terribly. Nothing i cant fix with some sanding paper tho. Aside from that electronics are fine, finish is nice.

All in all, another great deko buy!
Will post pictures later.
