invicta59 Posted January 28, 2014 Share Posted January 28, 2014 I presume Daf will know the definitive answer, but does anyone know if the Super Silver strings are the same gauge as the Silver/Golden slaps? After 8 years(ish) of Silver Slap action, I would like something with a bit more tension but I like the string gauge of the Slaps (plus, if they are the same, it will save me some bridge/nut work) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
daflewis Posted January 28, 2014 Share Posted January 28, 2014 Hi Invicta, Err, actually I don't know the definitive answer! 😱 I've just had a look at the data sheets with all the formulae for how the strings are made up, and it would appear that, give or take a few thousandths of an inch, they are the same. (the super silvers just use heavier materials at more or less the same gauge). Though I don't have any real hands on experience of the supers, so if anyone has any comments/experience to the contrary, please chime in! As you may have deduced, I am not unhappy with the Slaps - I'd just prefer a little more tension on the E string, so I'm not disappointed with my purchase, especially as I need new strings on pronto.
