Not `alf, those basses look great with the stock scratchplate, but that tort transforms it to a much better look.

Yup, and unlike the ones of two years ago, these are passive YAY :D

What a good subject !

I often wonder why printed Tortoise pickguard exist. Cheaper ? No because they are too expensive for being ugly ! :D

Only cellulo material gives the right color, vibe, harmony with the instrument.

Upper there are beautiful examples.

Did someone already try Montreux pickguards ?

On Tho-----.de they sell them.

No Peter, it's one of the following and despite the rep Mex's have, I love them. I've had 6 good Mex's now. Even though I love 'em I can still sell them on. That's because I'm fickle  Oh, and the description is wrong, the nut width is 38mm jazz.

Thanks for the complement on the guards. Also, I have checked those two companies out. Even though they are real celluloid, the look just is so different from the original stuff. Its just the same common present day tortoiseshell material that is being widely dispersed. Looks nothing like the original vintage stuff. That is where I have tried to perfect the art of getting it as close as possible to the original thing. Key features for vintage celluloid tort are:

Soft, cloudy like appearance. Almost a blurry look to the tort. A much brighter burgundy or red color. Circular puffy cloud or pepperoni patterns.

Now the features of a modern day celluloid tort are:

Sharp, thick solid like appearance. Almost like High definition sharp details. A much darker brownish black style. Stringy, flowing hair lined pattern.

I am shooting for vintage all the way as you can see.

Emanew, I am actually working on getting a template for Jazz bass and P bass right now. My supplier in France is waiting to receive the plexiglass which should arrive any day now for him to cut it for me. Then he will test it and ship it over to me. So we are look at maybe 3 weeks hopefully. I can write you or anyone else down on my list to remind you when they are ready.

Emanew you have been written down. It looks like yours is a Vintage original which the AVRI should fit perfectly for. Correct?

Ok Spitfire, i wish you could write me on your list and send a PM.
I live in France :)

Yes my JB is a old lady. What do you mean by AVRI ? A new modern Fender American vintage Reissue pick ? They are too brown for me that's why i am looking for cool picks like yours.

Yes, AVRi mean American Vintage reissue. That is just the style of cut. This is what I have. There is another style called the American Standard and it has a smaller pickup hole. This will not work for yours. So you would need the AVRi template style which should also work for original vintage Bass'.

Hey guys, good news. I just got my templates for Jazz bass and P bass in and yes I can do 10 hole PBass. Thank you all for being patient. I will be making 2 Jazz bass guards as test pieces really soon and then I will be able to make Jazz bass and PBass if all goes well. Let me just share a few more pics of a guard I just finished. Hows that? Is that pretty close to vintage?

Well hey guys, I have an idea. Since the production line is just around the corner from opening up I would love to start taking names and putting them on a list. So if you are interested, PM me letting me know what you would like. This will help me to organize and get things ready. Hows that sound?

So to re-cap, I will be making PBass, Vintage/AVRI Jazz Bass, American Standard/Road worn Jazz bass, and Stingrays for now. Get on the list by PMing me. Thanks guys.

I guess it depends on how you like the Tort to look. I like the Tort to be more of a darker brown color, less reddish tones, with less gold showing in it. The Tort on my Jazz caught my eye to this particular one.
