Thanks Gents, again for the great kind words. I had a Mapleglo, and a Ruby. Personally the Midnight Blue is my Achilles Heel for 4003 finishes. The Walnut 4003 does look amazing.

No, unfortunately my brother has the SG Std.

I got the SG Std. Walnut back from my brother, before he sold it for a song.

This Midnight Blue was purchased sight unseen through, Sam Ash.com. It worked out ok. The Caribbean Rosewood, (Chechen), has been looking pretty good in place of the former, African Rosewood, (Bubinga).

Just wondering, how many 4003 players with the Classic pull tone knob onboard their 4003, use the Classic setting. I've played with it a bit, but never really cared for the sound much. Anyone use theirs?

Not me, mostly I use neck only and the rest of the time both pickups (for songs where I need less cut through). I find the vintage sound far too thin to use in a band setting.....also to my ears it sounds nothing like an early 70s 4001 anyway.
