I just want a simple 5 string bass...

Hey all,

I'm on the lookout for a new 5 string. I like my guitars to be super simple - I'm happy to sacrifice flexibility for this, no probs. Gimme one pickup and a volume knob and I'm happy, but they just don't seem to make quality basses this way.

I like 17mm string spacing, but apart from that I'm open to suggestions.

I like Stingrays.

I like Warwicks

Not a Fender fan.

Any ideas? :-)

Jim

I recommend a BB as above, although the BB1025X is a good step up if it's within budget, and the BB2025X if you've just won the lottery. 18mm spacing at the bridge, very narrow at the nut (42mm wide). Pickup selector switch and volume/tone knobs.

How much are you looking to spend?

G&L L-1505? Depends if you think the two switches are cheating or not ;)

Works for me. You could safely set the switches for series and passive, then tape them inside the body somewhere and take the battery out. I'm not selling mine though!
shame thats stacked pots so actually 6 knobs!
(volume - balance / neck coil bass - treble / bridge coil bass - treble )

I would look at an ACG
