I just found this and had to be the first to share it here:

Malone, and in particular his work on Cynic's Focus album, was a major influence on me and is the reason I picked up both the fretless bass and Chapman Stick. I've ripped so many things from his playing - the Linear Sphere album is littered with them! ;)

That's great, I really like Cynic, managed to catch them on the reunion tour in (I think) 2007, unfortunately Malone wasn't on bass then - though whoever it was, was very capable.

Thinking about it, if you're in Linear Sphere I'd have seen you supporting them? Was somewhere in Camden, forget the venue name.

The note choice and technique in that video is exemplary, I loved the runs and chords he was playing, so tasteful and really served the song.

Hi Graham, yes we supported them at Dingwalls in Camden. Chris Kringle was playing bass on that tour and he is an excellent player too - he was also playing with them when I saw them back in '93.
