How soon do programmes become available on i-player?

You'll have watched it by now but for future reference, the BBC iPlayer lets you start watching something that's currently being broadcast, either from the beginning or live.

[sup]How does he get that sound on the bass? Any one know? My mate says he is going through a bass amp and a guitar amp , but a bass through a guitar amp still sounds like a bass  [/sup]

Pitchshifting up then taking the wet signal to a guitar amp...

Pogs and Harmonists, apparently. Excellent stuff. Finally , a spiritual successor to Colin Hodgkinson.

I know nothing of Royal Blood, but having just checked out their Jools Holland appearance on iPlayer... I quite liked 'em!

As for...

Most multi fx bass boards these days will have a similar preset installed, or at least have the capability to produce that kind of 'distorted unison bass/guitar' effect.

Ummm, clever. But would any of you have given them much thought if you hadn't realised that was only a bassist? Would you have simply thought it was a mediocre song from a four piece band, switched your ears off and finished your New Scientist Sudoku Challenge?

I'm glad somebody else has said this, I was starting to think it was just me.
To me they just sounded like a not particularly good band with a guitarist who couldn't do anything except play unison riffs with the bass player.

See, stuff like this gets noticed. The song doesn't really matter that much as long as it rocks and has a chord change.

I think that after the initial "wow, there's only two of 'em" has passed, the sound they make is actually duller and less interesting to the ear than if they'd just added a guitarist! A pitch shifter is tied to precisely doubling the bass an octave up, with none of the harmonic, tonal or pitch variation that makes the sound bigger and more alive when two instruments play together.
That's not to say that nobody should like the band or the song, just my feelings on their approach...
