How do you identify venues away from your geographical area, especially ones that are sympathetic to you chosen genre. I was juggling with the idea of sorting a sort of smash and grab tour, i.e. book a couple of gigs on maybe a Friday and Saturday in the same town. Gangs follow vans from venues of non local bands , it's a sure hit they will be parking up at some digs. They never have any reservations about unloading the van late at night... spacey Posted July 24, 2014 Share Posted July 24, 2014 The Crooks up here have locksmiths tools to open vans , the insurance won't pay as there is no sign of forced entry. Opening the drivers door turns most alarms off as well. Some venues will advise you leave gear in their lock up and pick up next morning rather than load the van and get followed to the digs. ambient Posted July 24, 2014 Share Posted July 24, 2014 It's not a new thing though breaking into vans, I was reading the other day about King crimson having all their stuff nicked out of a tour van years ago, and return to forever back in the 70's.
