[size=4]Hi all I have my Heavily Modified Harley Benton 50's Style P bass the bass is about 2 weeks old it has had some serious modification done these include a new Seymour Duncan SCPB-2 pickup that sounds absolutely amazing all the hardware has been changed to new Wilkinson tuners and bridge the bass also benefits from a Kiogan wiring loom and a proper copper tape shielding job in the control cavity and is now fitted with some rather funky skull and crossbones speed knobs but the original ones will be included in the sale the bass also has a new set of chrome Schaller type straplocks fitted but will come with the original strap pins as well, New strings have just been put on the bass they are Daddario EXP coated strings and sound and feel fantastic . It is nicely set up and has a low action IMO but obviously if you buy you will set it to how you like it best as everyones idea of low action differs :) Oh and the nut width is 42mm[/size]

[size=4]There are not any marks whatsoever on this bass but in the interest of being totally honest when fitting the new tuners one of the tiny little screws that secure the tuners on sheared off so I drilled it and filled it but this cannot been seen as the new Wilkinson tuners have bigger bass plates and cover it up it cannot be seen and if I did not mention it you would never know but I like being straight up and honest. the basses cost about 90 quid as standard from Thomann but to get the bass to this high standard I have spent at least[/size][size=4] £200 maybe a touch more if I add everything up so I think £150 is more than fair for this delivery will be £15 by courier [/size]

[/quote]Thanks Tom :) and that SCPB2 is a bloomin monster Dont really want to sell this but something I have been lusting over for a long time has become available and I need the funds, and I am not telling what it is you will have to wait :gas: :yarr: :o lol Bass I wanted has gone so trades for this amended

There have been comments that with modern basses, it's amazing the quality that beginners can buy for low amounts of money. Now we have this which is a solid starting point bass. It's got high quality upgraded hardware, high quality strings, a SD pickup! Where cheap basses suffer is often the electronics, shielding, and strings, and all of these have been addressed. Buying online, another problem is the factory setups out of the box, but you've addressed this too. Over the years I've met a few beginners and told them that a good bet for a first bass is to buy second hand from someone who knows their stuff, as anything that needs to be addressed will have been addressed. A good setup alone is worth how much?

I think it's a crying shame that nobody has grabbed this. There must be loads of beginners buying Squier Affinity basses that won't be a patch on this, spending much more money. I really wish I knew someone starting out so that I could highly recommend that they buy this.

(Note: I'm not suggesting that this bass is only for beginners, with all the mods surely it must be fully pro suitable, but I'm thinking of this in relation to what someone can get for an inexpensive first bass)
