Double bass porn thread

About time we had a porn thread for everyone's double basses.

So to get the ball rolling, here is my 1880's German flatback, complete with Full Circle pickup, Ben Bastin wooden endpin and Velvet Garbo gut string set (normal Garbo E/A, Garbo light D, Lenzner gut G)

That's a lot better preserved than my German flatback of similar vintage. There's a patch on the back of mine where the dark brown varnish has flaked off that suggests it was once a similar colour to yours. It's a good sounding bass though, better than anything else that was within my budget. It's had a new fingerboard and bridge since this photo was taken. It's wearing Spiro Weichs now, which seem to suit it better than the Mittels.

Just to keep the De Gamba (?) style going then here is mine, it is a 2013 Gedo Musik 3/4, half carved with solid spruce top, ebony fingerboard, tirolean tuners, I had an adjustable bridge and Spiro weichs fitted by the factory in Germany, the actual bass is Romanian I think? ply ones being Chinese, half being Romanian and the full carved being Czech?. After a lot of research this make model and final spec upgrades were a good comprimise between price and having a bass I could grow into as a noobie. It has a K&K bassmax fitted at the moment, badly by me I must add but I think I am going to have a full set up with nut filing, bridge feet shaped, general tinker and ask for the K&K to be fitted as well as it can and in the best position in their opinion :D

Matilda. Bought as the result of a slightly cheeky bid on an online auction. 5-stringer with a low B. It was made in 1995 by a Steve Eggleton — the back and ribs are Canadian fiddle-back maple, the front is sitka spruce, the neck is quarter-sawn English sycamore and the fingerboard is rosewood. The strings are Thomastic Spirocore for the B and E, with the A, D and G being Evah Pirazzi Weich. Long way to go before I'll play it publicly though.

I don't have such an impressive bass as some of you guys but my Czech made plywood bass does me & I like it.

I've said before, and undoubtably will say again, but we should have a 'like' button on this site. They have one on Talkbass :) .

Only I'd have used it here, I like everything about that photo :) .

Here's some pics of my bass. It's not a great looking pedigree bass as it's had a lot of work over the years and has a new front and neck, but it plays well and sounds good so I'm happy.

This is my battered upright. It's from Hungary, made in the 40's, part of a largish stock of instruments destined to schools in Norway.
Absolutely everything that can be broken on an upright bass has been broken at some point, neck included (2 places!). Still, it sounds great, very punchy.
The only part that is intact is the Troll microphone :D
(It's a microphone that lives under the bridge, hence a Troll... he he he)
