ON HOLD

***PRICE DROP - £800 plus P&P***
Hi all,

I have decided to sell my much-loved Birdsong Cortobass. The only reason for selling it is because it has been superseded by my Alembic and Mrs. RaNoFuNkY is not impressed with my bass "clutter" (sigh).

Some details for you:

Walnut body with ebony stringer
Maple neck with rosewood fretboard
Ebony nut, control plate and truss rod cover
Lace pickups
Gold hardware
Gold hipshot bridge and tuning machines
31" scale / 24 frets
Approx 1.5" neck width at nut, 1 and 7/8" at 12th fret

These are pretty rare over here. The 31" is a dream to play, and the neck has more of a Precision feel than Jazz, which fits very comfortably. The bass is nicely put together and handbuilt from what seems to be a very professional outfit based in Texas; it is certainly not a toy/gimmick. I believe that Birdsong now have the rights to manufacture the S.D. Curlee?

The 6-way Varitone selector ensures a wide range of tonal possibilities. Please follow this link for a very thorough review and to hear the many different sounds available:

I have briefly thrown together a youtube demo:

I can include a soft case. You're most welcome to pop in and try it out should you be in the Exeter area.

I had a Birdsong a few years back and it was a superb little bass, just so easy to play and a great range of tones. From memory, I think the bridge pickup was an EMG? These are real pro basses. Good luck with the sale. If I hadn't retired from playing I would have been very interested!

Sorry for the late reply - I've been away. The neck pickup is a Lace Sensor Gold. Now that I've checked, the bridge pickup (which I thought was EMG too) is also marked "Lace".

For a extremely thorough review of the bass, with sound samples of every available pickup and varitone option, I recommend visiting this page:

Unfortunately a deal just fell through so this is now available at a lower price of £900.

It's a fantastic bass, very hard to come by over here. Only selling to keep the Mrs happy, but will consider part exchanges.
