I used only a DI in my last band. I carried only my bass and a Darkglass B7K into the venue. Of course, that meant the venue had to have a PA Our guitarist did the same.

I've used nothing but the Ashdown mi12 since they came out, and I'm really happy with them.I normally use just one
but I might use two if the gig is going to be louder onstage. They actually replaced my Bergantino HS410.
I use them with the Ashdown MiBass 550 and the PiBass 240, and the whole rig sounds great. I've also had with great results
with the LB30, especially with a Precision.

Agree, a 210 is no match for 2 decent 2x112's but will do a quieter gig. You can't fight gtrs or loud drums though
with the 210, IME.
10's are my favourite speaker size but you have to be reasonable what you expect from them.
1x10 is a jazzer gig only, 210 is for a controlled gig with a sorted drummer.. and then we come to the 2x112
solution which will still be there in the sound, with 2 gtrs, IMO..
Of course, one man's loud is another man's..???

To be honest, I'm not in a band at the moment, and if I were, I couldn't see myself needing a particularly loud rig, strictly for practice and the occasional jam really.

Lightweight is subjective. Government recommnedations are for a maximum of 25Kg for a single person lift ans 30Kgs is a lot heavier (what are these lbs things?).

The first thing most go for is Neodymium drivers but they are expensive and not always ideal for bass. The 1 x 12 cab build diary on ( [url="http://basschat.co.uk/topic/227904-1x12-cab-design-diary/"]http://basschat.co.uk/topic/227904-1x12-cab-design-diary/[/url]) here is alomst complete and the current estimate for that is approx 14Kg and under £150. I strongly suspect that this will outperform all the cabs mentioned in this thread already except perhaps some of the Barefaced cabs and/or Bill Fitzmauricedesigns and Greenboy Designs. If you are really confident in your woodworking skills look at Bill's Jack Lite range. Plans will cost you approx. £10.

FWIW I've now gigged that cab a lot, and I'm still very happy with it. Started finding the limits of a single cab (driven by a 300w MB LM3) on some bigger gigs lately, but I've just been filling in with a bit of DI through the PA until I can find time to build another matching cab (the original build was fun, but it took a *lot* longer than I anticipated, although I'm an admittedly some what slow/methodical worker

The cost was definitely well under £200, helped by the reasonable price of the Beyma driver. Not sure of the exact weight but it must be around 15kg, it's an easy carry for a hundred metres or so from the car park with my bass/amp in a gigbag on my back, and I used the heavier birch ply aiming for sturdy rather than light.

There's a Barefaced Big One up for sale at the moment... a bargain, if a little over your budget. But I don't think you'll be able to build a decent usable cab for £200, unfortunately.
