FuNkShUi Posted September 12, 2014 Share Posted September 12, 2014 I'm packing a bass for postage today, and the box I have means I'll have to remove the neck. Do I need to loosen the truss rod or is there anything I should/shouldn't do? It's a ebmm clone. So it's truss rod is pickup side of the neck. Don't know if this makes a difference? I can't find a guitar box anywhere, and my local music shop said they don't have any that would fit a bass, only a guitar. BigRedX Posted September 12, 2014 Share Posted September 12, 2014 Go to your local bicycle shop and ask them for a bike box. Most have loads that they are only too happy to get rid of. Cut the top down to fit the bass. Most bike boxes are made of far heavier duty cardboard than the average guitar or bass box. I send all my instruments this way and have not had a problem yet.
