winegoddess Posted September 22, 2014 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Hello. It's probably my midlife crisis, but I bought a bunch of used instruments. I played Tuba in college. So I can read sheet music. My friends and I started a band called the Unpretentious Pretenders. I purchased an Ibanez acoustic bass. We get together and "pretend" to play. It's been fun, and now I'd like to gain some skills. I've started watching YouTube videos. I am starting to try now to purposely play notes. I hope you'll find BC a friendly and informative place, and if you do, you might as well know that the ToU of BC include some lines about not really having to unsubscribe when one leaves that London again. As to meeting others, enough bassists are expected to stand in line to meet a wine goddess, but if not, as London is close to water, you could swim some and meet me here in Norway. It's not really a long swim. Just keep the bass over your head so it keeps dry. I have two amps, so you should be OK in that department.
