[/quote] I don't think that's it, as his fingers are still moving in time with the notes. I suspect that it's as The Rev suggested, filmed with a low number of frames per second, so the string movement we see is a result of the difference between the frames per second of the video and the cycles per second of the string. Arild Andersen used to practice in front of a similar effect from an old projector screen to fine tune his vibrato for increased sustain.
