Clarky Posted October 9, 2014 Share Posted October 9, 2014 (edited) I have removed the Fishman Full Circle from my 3/4 bass as I want to try a different pickup (the new Gage realist) and am hence moving it on. In full working condition but one small drawback - I have mislaid the other 1/4" aluminium adjuster wheel (as in the one without the piezo unit). These can be bought in pairs from luthier Martyn Bailey for c£25 [url="http://www.mjbl.co.uk/double-bass-bridge-adjusters-for-sale"]http://www.mjbl.co.u...usters-for-sale[/url] and with a bit of googling maybe a cheaper individual adjuster wheel would come up? [/quote] Yep, the Realist Lifeline, which is getting great reviews Peter/Keith, I think the FC sounds great but I don't like the design (with the thin protruding wire), hence I have a Lifeline on order. But it crapped out as soon as I started the gig and, like Clarky, I've got my doubts about the flimsy wiring. There are several reliability issues on the 'other' forum; it's just not up to Fishman's usual quality. So I won't use it. [/quote] Thanks Roger, for the avoidance of doubt, I have never had a problem with the Full Circle in a live setting but I fear the thin wire will get bashed, especially as I often play in pretty small pubs/venues. That said, in the 3 years I have had this bass it hasn't happened yet. But I just feel that there are more robust designs available and - with the rave reviews for the Lifeline - I want to give it a go Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
bassace Posted October 10, 2014 Share Posted October 10, 2014 I think you'll like the Lifeline, Clarky. It is very good at low to low/mid volumes. Then after that I found it gets a bit thumpy, very much like the other Gage pickups. It could be down to the model of bass, of course. To get more volume I blend in some Underwood which also provides some useful top. Simple through a two channel amp such as a Clarus. I also understand that you can blend two pickups through a single channel amp by putting one through the input and the other one into the effects return via an outboard preamp/eq.
