Actually had a chance to listen through these this month which is a rarity for me.

A few words about each... Just opinion as always.

Dad3353 : I really enjoyed this, it's a really jolly tune... is that you playing a guitar solo in the middle? bet that required a few guitar faces?

Lord Sausage : Disco indeed. I liked the section in the middle (flute sample?) reminds me of the first tune off a Bently Rhythm Ace album I had years ago.

Leonard Smalls : Good vocal samples in this, the "dance till you drop" bit fitting in well with the theme. It's a great way of tying the music in with the pic... which is obviously the aim of this competition!

Plunger Moderno : Wasn't expecting that banjo style sound to come in after the intro... It sounded good and made me want to drink something brewed in a bathtub...

lurksalot : I thought the vocoder style vocals worked really with in this, again it reminds me of something I had years ago on a mix album... I think it was a cover of Bowies ashes to ashes with this sort of vocals. I enjoyed it anyway.

Skol303 : Wow a bit of rapping... that's cool and as always this is a well produced tune. The intro and the slap bass reminds me of a short film I once saw where in the begining a guy with a mustache came to mend a ladies boiler... don't remember what happened next...There is obviously a huge amount of effort goes into your tunes for this competition each month. Sounds like the bass playing is coming on well too.

Zenitram : This is very different from the others... fits the theme as it makes me think of retirement and relaxing... Kinda sounds like the music all the cool kids used to listen to at school whilst I was listening to death metal.

A cracking set of entries, but In the end it was a toss up between lurksalot and Dad3353. I really liked how the vocals fit in with the tune in lurksalot's piece but Dad3353's just won out for me. It's just such a jolly tune, conjours images of dancing and the seaside... love it and it gets my vote this month :)

Thanks for taking the time to listen Rob! And bonus brownie points for the mini reviews - hugely appreciated :)

Yes, I've been trying to improve my playing recently - thanks for noticing mate! The slap part is on account of me currently working through Tony Oppennheim's 'Slap It!'... lots of groovy, 70s, pornstar riffs in that book :D

Wow..! Thanks, firstly, for listening, extra thanks for listening to them all, super thanks for giving us some insight and feedback with your comments and, of course, mega thanks for your vote..! I'll have to disappoint you concerning the solo, though (I wish..!), it's a sampled extract from my BIAB arrangement.
I have only just acquired an interface for 'real' recording, and did a 'freebie' this month specifically to try it out. It's hidden up there in the previous posts..! The playing leaves much to be desired, naturally, but it worked very well; I will henceforth be able, at least technically, to do 'live' tracks. Depends on the picture a bit, but I'm looking forward to it.

I also voted for Skol this time, ace production quality as always, and the music fits with at least the title of the picture:-). As expected, I did not have time to enter this month, but if I had, I would probably have aimed more for a jazzy or latin tune than disco. Which I guess shows my prejudice for music and age, because the picture really is from the club 54 in New York, the Temple of Disco in the seventies. (The couple in the picture is the famous concert pianist Vladimir Horowitz and his wife Wanda)

No worries Rob. You have plenty of these under you belt already; no need to apologise! ;)

Just made my choice for this month :)

Brilliant work all round. I know I say that every time, but it's unfailingly true. I've left various comments on SoundCloud of the "wow, this is great!!!" variety.

My vote went to Zenitram, with Dad and Leonard being very close runners-up. I think the latter two (and others) actually captured the photo more accurately, but I thought Z's track was a thing of beauty of just my cup of tea, which swung it in the end.

One more to go for this year, once the fat lady has finished singing on November...

Cheers all :drinks:

No votes! No play of the day!.........was it really that bad. Ha ha
No votes is a tricky one , some of my best pieces have fallen at the first hurdle of a vote  , I have entered maybe 20 pieces , but I doubt I have 20 votes in total , It matters not , but one day ..........

Play of the day is unfortunately down to Dad being laid up with a debilitating case of the lurgy , so while he has had a great idea , is really not up to it at the moment , I am sure he will be back on form shortly
