SOLD. 1984 Wal Custom 4 L/H fretted. Further drop. Price now £2895
£3300

Apologies: 'Sale Price' should say '£3500' but I can't change it in the editor (not even in full editor mode).

Now available to view on the Gallery website:

I'm putting my '84 Wal Custom 4 up for sale as I no longer use it and cannot see me needing to use it again. I've owned it (on & off) for around 10 years. Facings are Wenge and the fretboard is Ebony. Last time I looked everything was working fine (it was serviced by Martin Petersen at The Bass Gallery a few years ago and hasn't been used much since), but I will get it properly checked over before sale. It will come with a sturdy gig bag (the original HSC was absent when I first bought it from Pete the Fish in High Wycombe). Condition is very good in keeping with it's age.

Within the next couple of days I will be taking it to The Gallery so that they can offer it as a commission sale. It should be up on their website shortly thereafter. I'll be doing pretty much everything through them, so this thread is really not much more than a headsup as to it's availability.

If you know what it is then you'll know what it's worth (serious offers based on the asking price will be entertained as the objective is to sell it). If in doubt, ask anyway.

No trades. Feel free to go try it out at the Gallery once it gets there.

Questions, queries or offers - PM me or speak to the Gallery. I can't guarantee to answer immediately but will do my best.

My dream bass.
I actually contacted Wal basses recently for a price on a lefty MK1 build. The price quoted was the same for new.
After paying an initial deposit the wait is about a year but you get to choose body wood facings, fingerboard wood and even fret metal.

How recently? MK1 prices start at £4050, so your getting a sizeable saving here straight off. Current wait is about 20 months according to the website.

Gorgeous bass at a great price, GLWTS!

Thanks Kev. I'm in no hurry to sell it but I do want it to go to a good home. :)

May be worth reminding folks (again! ) that there's a little bit of haggling built into the asking price.

Wow - I have the same in fretless, what a guitar.

Thanks Rob. It's a fabulous instrument, but truth to tell I can't see me using it again as I don't play publicly these days (although I do flirt with the idea of getting back into it from time to time...). 3 expensive basses is just too many to have sitting around doing nothing - hence the sale. I'll just have to make do with the Seibass and the Shuker Jazz.

Bump for a further (final) price drop. Now at £2895 ovno. I don't have a name on the funds so I'm in no hurry, and in all honesty I can't really see me going lower than this. Long term it's value is only going upwards, so if it doesn't sell at or very near this price I may as well keep it for a while.

Just as a reminder; while I'm happy to respond to questions about it, interested parties should contact The Gallery directly for purchase enquiries since they are handling the sale.

Also, no trades.
