Hi all

Would love to keep this but I am really not doing justice to it, and could use the funds for something else. I am also opento use it as px for a more expensive instrument.

This is a well known, lined fretless 5-string beauty I got from a trade here (see http://basschat.co.uk/topic/226160-fs-modulus-q5-fretless/).

3D quilted maple top in beautiful green, Bartolini PUs and 3-band ntmb 18v preamp delivering mwah for days. 35" scale. Beware: this is one powerful bass - one of the strongest output signals I've seen.

This can perfectly be the only fretless you'll ever need- it can do it all, it really sings beautifully, takes slap, tapping, chords admirably... harmonics jump out of the fretboard. The neck is very comfortable and obviously very stable. I just prefer a 4-string 34" scale for my fretless needs nowadays.

Now, importantly: this bass has obviously been used a lot, so there's significant cosmetic damage: large-ish dings on the headstock and neck (lower edge of fingerboard on first fret, see pic), there are 'vibrato marks' on the fretboard on the first few frets (3-7), miscellanous scratches and a few other minor dings in body - all pictured to the best of my ability, but I'll be happy to take more pics as needed. The bass is also not very light, but not heavy: just over 9 lbs.

None of these can be felt when playing and they don't affect playability or tone - which are both superb. But as a buyer I am picky and this is a player's bass, not a collector's piece - so I've tried to price this accordingly. It is strung now E-C but originally it was B-G, takes both without any problem.

Straight sale price is 1200£ including shipping and a very good condition Fusion soft case. No fee paypal or bank transfer accepted.

NOW AT THE UNBELIEVABLE PRICE OF 1000£ for a cash sale.

Thanks!

Bump - note all scratches and dings are in non-visible places. The only one 'visible' is on the front of the headstock, but hardly so because of the graphite figuring. I am so confident of the quality of this bass that I can offer full refund if the bass is returned to me within one week (shipping back at your cost)

  • 3 weeks later...

Guess many people put off by my close ups of scratches etc - in the flesh they are less than it seems but, being a picky buyer myself, can't really fault them... However the bass is really wonderful, I wouldn't sell but I've come to realise I can only handle fretted 5ers with minimal competence...
