I'm thinking of investing in a decent pair of headphones for listening to music on my PC and mp3 players etc. Music type varies. Price is hard, but wiling to pay decent money for a decent pair. Anyway, I go for akg( the ones from richer sounds around£40 -50). Can't remember the serial no. The set I have just now handle low end really well and crystal clear top end too. Cost about £80. Buuuuuuuuut that was a long time ago and they might have improved looking at the reviews... I personally will always buy Sony headphones, because I've just had a great experience with them. My 'In-Ear' headphones I have now have been in cups of coffee, down the toilet, dropped in puddles and stood on and they still work! I've had them for about 4/5 years!! I have already got a pair of these. I quite like them but was looking at upgrading a bit. I should have mentioned that it was over ears I was looking for...not in ears. I bought them with the intention of using them pretty much only for practice, as I've never really liked wearing big over ear headphones when out and about, but I've hardly used my in ears at all since buying these, and my in ears are pretty decent. When I was looking, comfort was my main concern as if they were to be worn for a few hours practice at a time, I didn't want to get annoyed at having to wear them, luckily the sound quality from them is also brilliant. [/quote] I have the on ear version that comes in at about £120, best cans I've owned. Plan on getting the Over ears at some point! +1 for the price pointed akg's as well. Both make in ear monitors with bass, mid and treble drivers. 7tenths Posted March 20, 2015 Share Posted March 20, 2015 (edited) Just my 2 cents worth....having owned Sennheiser HD25's and AKG550's I can recommend 'Superlux' (get them at Thomann, where they are 'super-cheap'). Am currently using the HD-669 'studio monitors' for bass which are fully closed-back and the HD-681 Evo via a headphone amp from my Linn Kairn/LK280 for anything 'HiFi'. If you just google the name 'Superlux-headphones' you will see the rather good reviews on line from 'head-fi' etc etc. Superlux seem to avoid all that expensive R&D budget by simply making their headphones along the specs of other well known brands with very similar frequency responses. I like the fact that the HD-681 EVO's also came with an extra set of velour type pads as well as two cable lengths (1m and 3m) and a bag, the cable detaches via 3.5mm jack at the left ear pad. They also have 50mm drivers and after a little 'burn-in' time, sound even better.
