I'd be up for this. Weekends preferably but given plenty of advance notice I can come along whenever.

Ok where do these things usually take place?
Pub / rehearsal studio / hotel conference room??

The South East Bash was held in a secondary school, there was a big hall and a theatre so plenty of space and relatively cheap to rent out for the day.

A pub with a decent size function room could work quite well and they'd be able to provide catering.

Not sure a hotel would be too happy about having a load of noisy bassist disturbing the peace.

Rehearsal studios would have excellent facilities for bands but I think it's probably better to have one or two big rooms rather than lots of small rooms.
#1 bass: MIJ Fender Jazz with DiMarzio pups & East J-Retro active electronics.
#2 bass: Loads of them and they all have their time and place

Eden WT800A with D210XLT and 212XLT cabinets.

Other guitars: Loads of them, some home built & a tonne of Peavey valve amps.

I'd be interested. Redbridge Studios in Bolton could give 2/3 rehearsal sized rooms and they have kitchenette type facilities. Only a couple of miles from the bass lounge, too, if I'm not mistaken.

If people were interested I'd cross the Pennines with a Cog-loaded pedalboard. Happy to attend without the board too if that's breaking forum rules or anything!

I’m going to sound like a total nob by asking a question that must have been asked a gazillion times before. As a debutant, what would I be expecting to happen at a bash, apart from me potentially looking very silly?

Forget about looking silly, and take a look at some of my Bash blog entries. It's great fun and you don't have to show off your bass playing if you don't want to, you can simply listen to others and make it a social event.

Thanks Bluejay, the big and small event blogs give some idea as to how these events go.
I would certainly come along to look and learn and meet up.

Just as an aside, is there a wish list of things to make a bass bash happen, a sort of 'how to organize a Bass Bash' guide anywhere.
Just so as we can appraise any venues we find with respect to shortlisting them.
I'm guessing, the list goes
Suitable venue, transport (public & private)
Availability
Price
Date
So do the needs of a Bassbash choose the venue, at least if we have that we may know where to start.
Wirral Bass Bash in a phonebox, anyone?

No idea whether the venue is the kind of thing that people use for bass bashes but the rehearsal studioI use regularly put on live nights, they have a decent stage, room for up to 80 people, but 20 would still work, bar, and seating area. It has parking available and is on an industrial estate so no need to worry about noise,

It's in Oldham though so not central, but is only 5 mins from a tram I think.

Oldham isn't that far from Wirral. So I'd be happy to travel.
I sort of got stuck on the financial side of things for a Wirral Bassbash.
Its easy to book a local studio for the day, but how are Bass Bashes usually financed?

There is a certain degree of financial risk in organising a bash, because the organisers have to pay upfront for hiring the room(s), then set an entry fee to recoup that outlay (and maybe offer the excess to a charity etc.), then hope that all those who promised to attend do attend and pay their fee.
