It'll be interesting to see how this new voting thing turns out. I have one very clear favourite, but I also voted for what I thought were next strongest entries. I'm no kind of statistician (unless 'crap statistician' is a job) so I can't really figure out all the possible outcomes.
Basically, I'm imagining that the winner might be the third choice of everybody who voted for it, but nobodys favourite.
Anyway, let's just watch and see :D

Voted. Really difficult to pick three favourites as there were so many strong contenders this month - harder than picking just one winner IMHO

Anyway, thought there were several standout tracks. Well done all this month
Voted for Lurksalot, Bilbo and Bleat as I thought these three tracks best represented the image. Particularly liked Bilbo's track. Reminded me of Ozric Tentacles' "Ayurvedic". Bleats' track I liked too for its Mike Oldfield-esque Tubular Bells II feel (reminds me of "Red Dawn", "Maya Gold" and "Moonshine")
Honourable mentions to xgsjx (Steampunk/Dubstep mashup) and Skol for their entries too - good stuff guys
That's me finally gotten through them all & there's some truly fantastic tracks here.
I'm glad it's "choose 3" as It would be really hard to choose just one (it was hard enough picking 3!).

Nice work all. I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for next month now.

This month's pic would have been a good entry for the Feb photo comp. The train has a smiley:)

Voted... As usual, several worthy candidates (not to say all..!); I found the choice easier to make for having 3 boxes to tick instead of 1. There was not one of the entries that didn't have merit; I find the bar is getting higher and higher as time goes on. 11 entries, so a lot of time with the headset; if this trend continues it'll take all month even to listen to them all..! Keep 'em coming, though, it's well worth the time spent, and I get to hear some really amazing stuff not to be found anywhere else on the planet. That has to be something of value, no..?

If you're struggling to hear a song's relation to the picture, read Dad's "Play of the day' reviews.

For mine, the chords represent the Pistons chuggng, with the faint ride cymbal to represent the steam from them.
The hi hats were to represent the train track sounds & the < > crash to represent a big billow of steam
There's a repetitive train whistle in there (which does eventually go, only to return later) & the rest of the song was to make it feel as though there was a heavy load being pulled.

Well that was my idea behind it. That track would never have come to be without the pic.
I'm pretty sure all the other composers could tell a similar story. :)

I think so. Aren't we supposed to see a correlation between the composition and the image?

I guess that is up to you , but I always look for one , especially as the image is the inspiration for the piece , but then interpretation of that is totally subjective.

Aye!
Personally I just use the image for inspiration; whether that's a photo-reality type rendering of every detail or a Daliesque flight of fancy matters not.
And voting-wise, I vote for whichever song(s) I like best having assumed that all of them are inspired by the image!
