What's the difference between the FE and the AL? (Apart from the obvious)

Hi MB1!

I've never used either of them so I don't know from experience. I had plans at the start of last year to do some routing and add these pickups to other basses. I got the MC4FE to partner with my PMVC 4 FE/M2 which is currently in my P-Bass as they're both ferrous pole pieces. Never got round to it though and I don't fancy it any more.

Apparently the AL gives the tone a warm bass and low-mid response, lets the mids cut through better and adds brightness to the top end. It's a really versatile pickup perfect for replacement in a MM style bass that lacks those qualities.

The FE (again, apparently) has punchier bass and top end (really bright highs) compare to the AL. It lets players using drop tunings keep that tight bottom end with extra clarity.
