Can you use a drum amp for a bass guitar?

Hi every one,
We have recently formed a band and were doing practise about once a week. Our bassist only has a small 10 w bass amp which cannot be heard at all over the guitars and drums. However our drummer has an amp he uses for his electronic drum kit at his own house (not at practise) which is way louder than the small bass amp. Would it be safe to run a bass through the drum amp or would it damage the speakers? This is only a temporary set up with the bassist getting a new amp in about a month.

Many thanks
