Not sure about you guys, but do you have a term or phrase that you dislike?

Here's a couple from me:
'dimed' as in the volume on my amp is dimed. Really!! where did that come from?

'my bad' as in sorry I didn't notice that...my bad. what is all that about???

maybe just me though.

Don't get me started on this....

Too much American TV is my theory as to the source of most of the annoyances. Even worse because I work for a global company whose headquarters in in the USA.

So some examples:
I'm good - just does not sound right
Good to Go = I'm ready

Pick vs plectrum

I can barely type this as it annoys me soooooooooo much...

'going forward'

Where else can we go?

edit: to say - great thread, this could run and run, given the amount of grumps and grammar-police round here... :) :P

"Dimed" = Too much chocolate?

Too many "Facebook"-isms and American based Forum-isms creeping into normal language.

I seriously cringed when my kids started saying "LOL"...:| :D

"Blue Sky Thinking" anyone?

Anyone saying or writing "Dat" or "tho" in my presence ........will soon reckon upon the standard of my gardening...from within the shallow grave I have dug for them.

Also Rig. This is my Bass Rig.

Is it fully articulated? Do you run with the radio handle "Rubber Duck"?

No this is your amplifier and associated peripherals and accessories.

Tho for though is a bit of a habit of mine as it saves time writing and is therefore akin to text-speak
which I don't mind in an informal context...
But I can and do write properly when I have to for the right audience so on BC it is short-hand at best.
For that reason, I don't even bother with a spell checker here...

Oh well.....

+1 in agreement here
Although some of my favourite television programmes are also from the USA
eg. Cheers, Frasier, Big Bang Theory etc etc)

I particularly dislike it when the word "like" is thrown into a sentence far too often

"I said like, whoa, and she said like, you wha like
an' I was like duh, like so she says like, you kno what I mean like,
an' like I was all like......

I often hear such meaningless drawl, and think to myself
"what the hell was that all about? I mean, did anyone actually construct a whole sentence?
and did anyone actually say anything at all?" ......."like" ;)
