For sale my 1982 Fullerton '57 RI Fender Precision Bass in very rare Candy Apple Red finish over Sunburst. Very early serial number V00XXXX. Yes, like in the old days, this body was finished in 3TSB before the final Candy Apple Red was applied before sending it to the dealer. This bass plays amazingly. Very resonant body. The CAR has been worn off in several spots showing the sunburst underneath. As you can see a large portion of the front has gone and shows now the shoreline gold layer (as you know, CAR is achieved by applying a trans-red finish over a thin layer of shoreline gold nitro). Simply a very collectable and fantastic Precision Bass with a stunning "reliced" look. Light at 3,9 Kg. OHSC Included.

That's a lot of money for a P probably not half as good as mine! ;)

Mmmm, first number is definitely 11, second looks like 14. I can't read the year in the photo but it must be an 82 since it is such a low serial number. I would have to detach the neck again to check that. Let me know if you really want me to, and I will do it.

I've had several people approaching me about this bass, asking me questions about the neck. As some of you might know, Fender manufactured 3 reissue models between 1982 and 1984: 2 Ps and 1 J. The two Ps were called '57 reissue and '62 reissue. For obvious historical reason, one would expect the neck profiles of these two model quite different (flatter for a 62 and chunkier for a 57). Well, that is NOT the case. I've owned all Fullerton RIs, and the neck profiles of the two P models are virtually the same: they are wide and flat, exactly like a early 60s Precision bass, not like a 57. I also have an original 1960 Precision, and I have taken this photos for comparison. As you can see, the dimensions of the two are almost exactly identical. What I mean by all this is that if you are after a neck that feels like an early 60s Fender P, this is it.
