Hi, I have been thinking of getting a trolley to put bass or guitar amp on for jam nights, as I don't have a car , probably mainly the guitar most times, with a marshall avt 20 or something like a fender champion 100 or a mustang 100, the bass amp is a bg250, but I may go the way of playing through the PA with that so mainly the guitar amps and possibly bag full of leads/pedals etc.

I have seen interesting looking trolleys

this Thomann rock n roller

This carp fishing trolley one ebay

I am kinda favouring the thoman one at the moment.

these look too much fun

I would be tempted to sit in it, would be useful for all sorts though thoman one looks good on price and ruggedness for music stuff and has good reviews and the wheels seem to be solid rubber type stuff so wont go flat

I use one of these for a hundred yards or so trip from the car to one of the places I play and it's been fine:

I have to use a bungee cord to secure the cab as the base is quite short, but I guess you'd do that for safety even with the Thomann one.

Been using the design type Gottastopbuyinggear posted for ages, first one lasted 10 years now on my second. They will cope with a curb as long as it's not stupidly deep. Sturdy design. Ones with folding in wheels compact down to smaller size for storage but the wheels will sometimes want to start folding in while in use if you're not careful.

I was put off the amazoon one by the reviews that mentioned the bearings falling out etc, I also noticed no max weight on the fishing trolley, I notice the thomann one seems to be from a specialist company that make stuff for shifting musical equipment so will probably go with that as people seem to mention using it to shift PA and amps etc, plus I will get a money off voucher for reviewing it too, they also have a 4 wheel truck type for another 20 quid, decisions decisions lol

Does the fishing trolley have a max load in the description? If it does I didn't see it. That would have ne suspecting it's not able to carry that much.

I reckon you need the Bass Fishing trolley version.....?

I've got one of these , folds down nice and small and with a budgie chord around the front to ensure no fall forwards.
Nothing moves at all i can go up and down curbs I mainly used it for my big old carpet covered trace elliot 7125 SMC
A 1 X 15 combi with tweeter's and expansion cab, It shifts that no problem.

Now it lives permanently in my car boot I've used it to move a washing machine and dishwasher ,
staff at curry's were not accomadating when i told them i wasnt parked 6 allotted spaces.

I've got one identical to the einhell one suggested (twice). mine is branded as Clarke (machine mart) and I stack both my cabs, my pedalboard and my amp bag on with a couple of bungees for peace of mind. it works a treat for the 200 yards or so that I need it for, it survived a festival as well although it took a while to hose all the mud off.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have the two wheeled one also and it's fantastic.
It also doubles as a combo stand as I discovered at rehearsal last night. The hard floor in the big hall makes the amp very boomy and unfocused when flat on the concrete, so much so that I was considering a new combo. But now, my Stingray sounds like a Stingray.
