....and one "you sound like that bloke from tool".
[/quote]

Are you sure that was what he/she said? :P

Lovely bass in all seriousness. Will confess to lusting after an Uber spec ACG after playing the blue ART finish Recurve, like Eude said great the way every note is so well defined.

I imagine so. I'm used to being called a tool so I usually recognise that phrase

If you search for Wal basses on Google a talkbass thread comes up and Google cuts it off after the first few words. I assume its a guy saying he's a tool fan but it just comes up as "I am a massive tool"

Little follow up since I've now lived with the bass for a fortnight and had a few rehearsals. I'm getting more used to the preamp (not 100% yet but getting there at my own (read: slow) pace!). Band mates love how it sounds and how it feels to play -yes I was [s]stupid[/s] brave enough to let them have a go-.

I'm working on getting sound samples done. Think I'm going to record a chord progression and play over that using different sounds I can get from the bass but will take a week or so I imagine as my recording and playing abilities aren't upto much! It'll be recorded directly into a Fast Track Solo interface into Reaper so not world class recording equipment but it'll hopefully give a vague idea! Aim is to not use any plugins of any kind either so it'll just be direct sound of the bass and nothing else.

The previous idea has went a bit on the back burner at the mo due to laziness but recorded this earlier on today. Excuse the screw ups but the bass is really (probably) too high up compared to the track so nice and easy to hear.

Nicely played, sounded great to me. Sweet bass too.

Very nice! Your bass incorporates all the design features I deem important in a 5-string bass compared to a 4-string bass:

1) the body ergonomics are rebalanced, including an extended upper horn for balance, to prevent neck dive
2) laminated neck to manage unwanted resonances or dead spots (including my favorite, purpleheart)
3) the "neck" pickup a little closer to the bridge for clarity on the B string
4) noise-reducing pickups wound for clarity instead of P-thump or J-growl
5) offset tuners to give as much leader to the B string as possible to help smooth, stable tuning and avoid binding
6) light weight tuners

Thanks for sharing!
