Out of interest does anyone know what the make the guitar in this video? You can see it quite well at about 44 minute in when the guitarist takes a solo. I'm not sure if I like it or not but it's certainly different, out of curiosity I'd like to know more about it.

Not a clue what that is, but its the most ugly looking guitar I have ever seen!

What happened to the headstock?! It looks like it broke off!

Ha Ha I think it's like a Kubuki (spelling?) bass where it had a little extension on the fretboard on the E string so you can have a low D.

A quick google of his name reveals all:

It was made in Switzerland by Rolf Svuler and given to me by Forbes Henderson; it’s a nylon string guitar and electric but it’s got an amazing design and tone. The way he combined the acoustic sound, it’s a sold body but the way he put it together it has an acoustic sound. It was given to me in London in 1990 at Ronnie Scott’s by a classical guitarist named Forbes Anderson.
Rolf Spuler also designed the Ibanez Affirma bass.

First thing I clocked on that odd guitar was the AFR-ish lower horn.

Had no idea Spuler had died. RIP.

A long time ago I missed out on a badly-listed one of these on Ebay. Sold for about £100. :o

Jon.

After seeing this thread, I googled, and found this interesting Talkbass thread. http://www.talkbass.com/threads/ibanez-affirma-series-afr-104.350336/

It's nice to read that the relationship between the massive company Ibanez and the independent luthier Spuler was as cooperative as it was.
