Hi,

My band Velcro Pelmet (https://www.facebook.com/VelcroPelmet) are playing what we hope will become a monthly jazz night at the Tooting Tram & Social in Tooting, SW17 (2 mins walk from Tooting Broadway tube station). We play a mix of jazz fusion originals and reinterpreted versions of material originally by the likes of Miles Davis, Weather Report, Mike Stern, Herbie Hancock, Billy Cobham, the Jaco Pastorius big band, Pat Metheny and others.

Supporting us this time are Recommended Units (guitar and saxophone-led groove jazz with a modern edge) and The Young Scientists (jazz, blues and surf sounds). Admission is a rather friendly £3. More details on our attached events page: https://www.facebook...24569734318784/

See the Tram's web site at http://tootingtramandsocial.co.uk/map/ for location.

As this is hopefully going to develop into a monthly thing, we'll be on the lookout for bands to join us on the bill (or headline if you're really good). If you're interested, send me a PM with some info about band and links to youtubes, soundcloud etc. Thanks!

Tony

Good luck for tonight, I was going to try and get over but not going to make it. Please post again for next month, or PM me, this is definitely my sort of thing.

No worries, we're booked in for next month, July 5th. Will update accordingly, but sign up at https://www.facebook.com/VelcroPelmet for up to the minute news. You'll find last night's setlist on the event page, btw.

It's tonight! We're expecting our support band Selectric to be obn at 7.30, then Velcro Pelmet at 9.30pm.

I've had multiple threads merged for this ongoing night, in case anything is looking odd. I'll update this one thread to advertise future nights at the same venue.

After a break over the summer we're back at the Tooting Tram & Social this Sunday, September 6th for another jazz and related night.

We (Velcro Pelmet) are on last at about 9.30pm, before us are Young Scientists (7.30pm) and The Far Meadow (8.30pm).

This is tonight! Doors at 7pm, running order pretty much as above. Recent Velcro Pelmet gig have seen material originally by Weather Report, Miles Davis, Billy Cobham, Mike Stern, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny and others, plus the occasional VP original.

The Far Meadow are prog rock, check them out at https://thefarmeadow.bandcamp.com/
Good old rock'n'roll/surf covers from Young Scientists

Our next Sunday night Fixture has just been confirmed: straying from our usual "first sunday" rule, this time it's Sunday October 11th, as usual at the Tooting Tram & Social, just round the corner from Tooting Broadway tube station, SW17.

We'll be rolling out some new material again this time, including one or two Velcro Pelmet originals.

More details to follow, including stage times and support acts, closer to the date. Doors as always at 7pm.

A bit of a different flavour to this month's On Broadway gig at the Tooting Tram & Social - as usual my band Velcro Pelmet will be appearing, but we'll be first on in support of prog band The Far Meadow, who will be doing a 90 minute headline set, starting at 9.30pm. VP will be on about 8.15pm, doors at 7pm. As usual it's free to get in, and the beer's good!
